System for recording sightings in protected areas
For years, the National Parks Administration, through park rangers and specialized agents, has kept a record of sightings of species considered “special” within each protected area. Much of this information is publicly available in the SIB in the protected areas and species sheets.
To improve the mechanism for recording species, we developed a system for recording sightings that allows the digitization of the process. Through an application for phones, park rangers and National Park agents can send the data collected in the field directly to the database. One advantage of this system is that it can be used in places without connectivity, since the data is updated when there is a connection. The app also allows uploading photos and viewing their distribution on offline maps.
