Tierra del Fuego in 360º.
Tierra del Fuego en 360º is a project funded through the ASETUR line of the Federal Council of Science and Technology (COFECYT) that began its execution in July 2018 and will run until mid-2019. It is managed by the National Technological University and has the support of the National University of Tierra del Fuego, CENT 11 and the Chamber of Tourism of the province.
The objective of the project was to develop a visualization platform and produce 360º content to represent the main attractions of the province, in order to promote the End of the World as a tourist destination.
The virtual reality production included locations throughout the province and at different times of the year, including Rio Grande, Tolhuin, Ushuaia and Antarctica.
In order to establish local capabilities in Ushuaia and ensure continuity in the production of 360º content in the long term, the UNTDF Systems career offered a training course. Participants included personnel from the Ministry of Science and Technology, professionals from INFUETUR, technicians from TV Pública Fueguina and the Media Secretariat, as well as students from CENT 11 and from the Audiovisual Media and Systems careers of the UNTDF. The course, led by Federico González Brizzio, ended in mid-December 2019, and approximately 15 people acquired the necessary skills to produce 360º interactive audiovisual material.
The videos and technology developed by Panalsoft were used by INFUETUR to publicize local tourist activities and attractions, thanks to the incorporation of virtual reality viewers. Tourists experienced the End of the World in an immersive way, getting to know our forests, touring the Beagle Channel, skiing, fishing or walking with penguins in Antarctica.
